My stay at Mongolian Resorts Guest House was a pleasant experience
thanks to their excellent location and affable and knowledgeable
receptionists. On many an occasion the willingness of the
receptionists, all of whom spoke English, to offer up advice on a
variety of matters impressed me. I was over the course of three weeks
taught by the receptionists a variety of simple yet useful Mongolian
phrases, instructed on how to hail a cab and told where to go to buy
cheap jeans and how much to pay for when I ripped my own.
The hostel is near to the State Department Store, a variety of Internet
cafes and a supermarket, which stayed open until very early in the
morning, all of which made living in Ulaan Baatar that much more
pleasant.
Furthermore, it's within easy walking distance of perhaps some of the
nicer (yet still relatively cheap) restaurants and some of the more
popular pubs. Aside from this I felt that the facilities at the hostel
were really quite good. As despite the dire warnings of the Lonely
Planet guide about Mongolian hostels I never had any problem with the
toilets and the showers were always hot.
